Pain Control

Does Periodontal treatment hurt?

We've taken the fear, anxiety and pain out of dental anesthetic injections. Improved equipment, such as The Wand, makes for a more pleasant dental experience. The Wand is an excellent example of Dr. Veisman’s efforts to bring you the latest dental technology, and to help all of our patients have a pleasant, positive visit to our office.

What is The Wand?

The Wand is a revolutionary new computer controlled local anesthesia injection system that conquers fear, pain and anxiety. It does not look like a syringe. It does not hurt like a syringe. And it works better than a syringe. The microprocessor inside The Wand automatically compensates for different tissue densities. The anesthetic is then delivered at a constant pressure and volume that's typically below threshold pain.

The computer provides a flow of anesthetic directly ahead of the needle. The source of discomfort for most injections, however, is not the needle, but the flow of anesthetic into the tissue. To minimize and virtually eliminate the discomfort, The Wand delivers anesthetic solution at optimal flow rate for a comfortable injection every single time.

Conscious Sedation Anesthesia

For those patients who are more apprehensive about dental visits, Dr. Veisman is pleased to offer Nitrous Oxide and Oral sedation anesthesia. Nitrous oxide is an odorless gas which makes you feel relaxed and at ease. When used in combination with an oral sedative, nitrous gas will make you will feel calm and carefree. Although you will be awake, you will not be aware of your surroundings. Conscious sedation is a minimally invasive technique which will calm you during dental procedures without the risk associated with general anesthesia.

Dr. Veisman’ s facility is approved by the Royal College of Dentists of Ontario for General Anesthesia sedation. During more involved surgical procedures, Dr. Veisman is accompanied by a certified anesthesiologist who delivers the General Anesthesia (deep sleep) and stays with all patients until they are completely awake.
